Alta Roma Alta Moda: the Italian haute couture

Last chance yesterday to attend Alta Roma Alta Moda 2012 in Rome. This was the second annual appointment in Rome in order to celebrate the fashion week and the exceptional designers who were there presenting their work. After the big success back in January, the Italian capital got ready to be the perfect backdrop again for this event, which is now celebrating its 19th edition.

This summer edition started on the 8th of July and ended yesterday, giving a great opportunity for fashion lovers and journalists to meet several designers who showed their personal creations for the next fall-winter 2012-2013 collection.

Raffaella Curiel, Renato Balestra, Giada Curti, Sarli, Tony Ward are only some of the brands you were able to find at Alta Roma Alta Moda, with collections all inspired by laces, decorations, sequins, crystals, and details aimed at expressing elegance, charm and prestige.  Fabrics too, of course, were as gorgeous as ever, contributing to add glamour and sensuality to the designers’ creations, for both night and day wear.

The two most classic colors, black and white, underline one more time luxury, especially when they are not combined together but paired instead with brown, orange, yellow, light blue and violet. Pleated trousers or knee-length skirts are two of our favourite designs among the creations presented in Rome, and we suggest them for the day.  As far as it concerns the night, become then a sexy lady, wearing long dresses with split skirts. Your legs will be enhanced and you will just look like a diva !

Cannes 2012: back to the Dolce Vita

The 2012 Cannes film festival is about to end, and everyone in the industry is getting ready for  this evening gala ceremony,  where once again the Palme d’Or will be awarded to the best picture. For us who love fashion it’s time to vote for the best dressed celebrity…difficult choice, as we have seen so many stunning gowns on the red carpet!

But surely among all the  stars’ looks one stands out: it’s  Bianca Balti, dressed in an incredible Dolce & Gabbana black multicolored floral gown. She made a memorable entrance at the festival with all the glamour of a proper  diva, just back from the Dolce Vita. Bianca  is Dolce & Gabbana’s new muse, as the super model also appears in the designer’s 2012 spring summer campaign. Her Italian beauty definitely recalls the divas of the 50’s, and the model/actress has been compared  many times to the iconic Sophia Loren. The dress is inspired to the atmospheres and colours af Southern Italy, which is also the distinctive sign of Dolce & Gabbana spring summer collection for 2012.

Subtle make up and jewelery, black nail polish, and a natural curly updo hair style complete and balance this very sensual and dramatic look.

New York Fashion Week: my favourites

It was raining this morning in Milan, but if you are thinking that the summer is over, then you have to think again. In just a few days in fact the spring summer collections 2012 by the world’s most exciting designers will be presented on the city’s runways. Milan Fashion Week will start on Wednesday 21st September, and until the 27th the city will be sparkling with the presence of models, designers, and celebrities.

While London Fashion Week is still on, the show in New York closed few days ago. What did you think about it?

Victoria Beckham

I liked the very minimal yet feminine collection Victoria Beckham presented in NY, accessorized with beautiful Laboutin shoes especially made for her…this sandals up here are to die for, absolutely!

Carolina Herrera

I really love the way Carolina Herrera used geometrical motives in her collection also presented in New York. These ‘total white’ dresses are incredibly elegant, sophisticated and glamorous.

DKNY

Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012

DKNY inspiration for the designs seen in NY has a tribal vibe. The colors she used for this collection are black, brown and ochre, mixed in graphic, bold prints, and used on shapes that are sinuous and feminine.

Tommy Hilfiger

Very colorful is the ‘pop and preppy’ collection for next summer by Hilfiger.

Marc Jacobs

Even Marc Jacobs collection was very colorful, still following the color block trend that has been so popular this year.

United Bamboo

Last but not least amongst this selection of designers, I really liked United Bamboo, with the minimal, fresh, but at the same time ‘très chic’ look of their collection. So…what are your favourites from NY Fashion Week?
