Blue is the new black

Blue is the new black this season- designers around the world have decided. Forget about that very classic feel of navy blue: the newest shades have a multitudes of variation: from denim blue to blue-grey, from royal blue to ultramarine. Variations of blue are actually easier to combine that navy blue: white, off-white, beige and grey are perfect with most blue shades, and while ultramarine and black is a bold and super trendy colour match you might have never thought of, aero blue has a timeless charm, and will add a touch of sophistication to all your outfits. When it comes to dresses, blue can be sexy in a more subtle way that black, and a blue dress always carries along a sense of elegance. You cannot really go wrong with a blue dress. So if you have a doubt on what to wear this coming season, here is a good hint: swap your little black dress for a little blue dress – and easily achieve that trendy and at once effortlessly chic look that you just love.

Summer colors

Ahh, summer! Once again fashion, summer, colors, and trends are overwhelmingly tickling the desire to revitalize. Time to kick away the dark shades in your closet and switch to brighter and lighter colors. This can be  sometimes challenging, but you shouldn’t be scared of wearing summer colors. There are numerous reasons to feel good about the exquisite switch. Just slip on something a little brighter and lighter and see for yourself.

From the boardwalk to the catwalk, vivid  shades are summer’s latest trends. Go glam with these fresh saturated summer colors.

For a pop of playfulness, bring in a coral, peachy palette to your summer collection.  Add elements of whimsy and fun to your look with a coral outfit, like a peach bold dress combined with a big banded watch, lace up coral stilettos, and bright nails and lips (coral combines very well with neutral tones).

Poppy Red
This is a sensual, seductive and celebratory shade. Whether it’s a knockout dress or a pair of sexy stilettos, every women’s wardrobe essentials should include it. Poppy Red  is perfect for monochromatic looks.  Be careful when adding accessories to complement your red outfit, as this is a strong color that will get you a lot of attention on its own – so you need to  be minimalistic with all the rest.

Lemon Zeal

This peppy, effervescent hue brings out a zesty taste with its refreshing and soothing greenish cast. The easiest and best way to wear this shade is through colourful printed tops, T-shirts or fit and flare one piece dresses.

A bright, bubbling citrus orange with coral undertones, this color provides a piquant burst of flavour to a look. Although this shade is bright, it still has a softness to it. Look  for  tops and blouses in this juicy tint to add a vibrant look to your wardrobe in an unexpected way.

Dusk Blue
This is the newest pastel tone!  A serene shade  that works best with flow and fluid silhouettes. If an all blue attire is too much for you, look for stripes in this shade or digital prints with a classic shirt silhouette or a pair of shorts. For an unusual look, you might pair it with intense orange.

Dazzling Blue

Dazzling Blue it is a strong color with an intense energy.  A shade that can be sophisticated and eccentric  at once, especially when it is combined with black.

This jewel shade looks spectacular on dresses – banded, lacy, sequined, side draped and sculpted.

Rinascimento Emerald Dress

Tender Shoots
Tender Shoots, a vibrant yellow-green shade, like the first signs of spring, is an active, invigorating and cheerful color, that will enhance the beauty of your glowing tan.  To make a powerful style statement, slide into a silk chiffon dress in this amazingly trendy color.

Neutral tones are also  great during summer. Neutrals are rich  of  shades and variations,  and can be skillfully  mixed and matched  to achieve many different looks .  Neutral tones work always well with white, but you may as well  mix your neutrals with  bright shades to create a unique look with a harmonious balance

How to rock in floral prints

Girls love to wear floral prints because they look very feminine. With their vibrant colors and design, floral prints can be very eye-catching and will definitely help you make a fashion statement. To create a good outfit with floral prints you need to match them with a solid neutral shade only, like black or grey, and keep your accessories very minimalistic.

Florals were seen all around during the summer, but who said the floral look is good for Spring and Summer only?  The new Rinascimento Fall/Winter collection just out now offers a wide variety of beautiful dresses in floral prints. Although florals are always very ladylike, you can easily make it more edgy by paring it with a cool short leather jacket, and stylish platform shoe boots, just like this:

Highlights from Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week has ended a couple of days ago, and it’s  just the right time to spend some words on how amazing were the designs we have seen on the runways. On top of my list I would put D&G’s collection,  at least for these gorgeous  colorful  dresses, beautifully shaped out of  a foulard and very inspired by the  classic  Hermès  prints.

Fendi was able to come up  with a really stylish, glamorous, and unique collection designed by Karl Lagerfield. Most of all, I love the haircut ! So so cool! I have decided  I must try it out…

Very imaginative is  Moschino‘s  spanish inspired collection, based on a total black color scheme, with gold and white accents, and a lot of embroideries and accessories.  The black skinny trowsers and the gold sandals paired with it will definitely be a must have.

Love it or leave it, studs are the distinctive sign of Versace‘s 2012 Spring Summer collection.

Giorgio Armani‘s designs are  as usual the most sophisticated one can imagine, with a neutral,  pastel based colour palette. The cut of this dress is so perfect that  it could just be a sculpture . By the way, I am glad to see that one shoulder tops will still be on fashion next summer. I really love this cut.giorgio aemani ss 2012giorgio armani s s 2012

Just Cavalli‘s inspiration remains linked to animal prints,  fringes , and the wild west. The general look of his collection, no surprise being Cavalli’s,  is intended to be very sexy.

On the opposite side, there is the classic, minimal, and monochrome collection by Max Mara.

For next season Gucci suggests a seductive trend, with a lot of glitter and gold, very “Charleston”.  These are my favourite outfit by Gucci’ Spring Summer  2012.

So, here are my picks from Milan. How about you, is your wish list ready? xxx

New York Fashion Week: my favourites

It was raining this morning in Milan, but if you are thinking that the summer is over, then you have to think again. In just a few days in fact the spring summer collections 2012 by the world’s most exciting designers will be presented on the city’s runways. Milan Fashion Week will start on Wednesday 21st September, and until the 27th the city will be sparkling with the presence of models, designers, and celebrities.

While London Fashion Week is still on, the show in New York closed few days ago. What did you think about it?

Victoria Beckham

I liked the very minimal yet feminine collection Victoria Beckham presented in NY, accessorized with beautiful Laboutin shoes especially made for her…this sandals up here are to die for, absolutely!

Carolina Herrera

carolina herrera ss 2012carolina herrera ss 2012carolin herrera ss 2012carolina herrera ss 2012

I really love the way Carolina Herrera used geometrical motives in her collection also presented in New York. These ‘total white’ dresses are incredibly elegant, sophisticated and glamorous.

Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012

DKNY inspiration for the designs seen in NY has a tribal vibe. The colors she used for this collection are black, brown and ochre, mixed in graphic, bold prints, and used on shapes that are sinuous and feminine.

Tommy Hilfiger

Very colorful is the ‘pop and preppy’ collection for next summer by Hilfiger.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs ss 2012Marc Jacobs ss 2012Marc Jacobs ss 2012

Even Marc Jacobs collection was very colorful, still following the color block trend that has been so popular this year.

United Bamboo

Last but not least amongst this selection of designers, I really liked United Bamboo, with the minimal, fresh, but at the same time ‘très chic’ look of their collection. So…what are your favourites from NY Fashion Week?

Some window shopping for you

I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely desperate for a good shopping session. The thing is, where I am right now is a truly beautiful yet shop-deprived corner of the world. So I have been browsing around the net to get some good fashion inspiration, and  I ended up window shopping at

Valentino is one of the most classic Italian designer, and his style has always been very feminine, seductive, and sophisticated at the same time. These are my three favourite dresses from the ready-to wear spring-summer 2011 collection at

I think they are absolutely stunning… So simple and elegant, to me they represent exactly what the essence of style is.

I have an obsession with black, so there is no doubt, if I had to pick one and just one, it would be  the black satin dress. Wich one would you choose? Tell me!

Ciao ciao, the weekend is starting, hope you have a good one!

Fashion disaster in Cannes….

Ouch!  Stepping out  to a glamorous party just to find out that you are wearing the same dress as someone else! Not nice at all.

It happened few days ago in Cannes when both Victoria Silvsted and Bar Refaeli showed up at a Roberto Cavalli party wearing the same sequined nude dress by Cavalli.

But who has not experienced one of those ugly accidents? I can remember this happening to me at least once. It was years ago, at a wedding in Florence. I had spent hours and hours shopping around for the right dress, and finally set my mind over a black Max Mara dress simply decorated with a gorgeous golden chain belt. I was very happy with my choice, so you can imagine how I felt  then at the wedding, when I had to realize that someone else was wearing what was now MY,  just MY, dress! The thing is, we ladies want to be unique all the time, right?

ciao ciao….

Marvellous one shoulder dress

I love  one shoulder dresses because they are sexy and sophisticated at the same time, which makes this design an absolute must-have in every woman’s wardrobe.  It reminds me of the ancient roman matrons, and maybe this is why I would always pair it with gladiator sandals and a curly updo hairstyle.  Try it and let me know….xxx
