Blue is the new black

http://bit.ly/shopitalian

Blue is the new black this season- designers around the world have decided. Forget about that very classic feel of navy blue: the newest shades have a multitudes of variation: from denim blue to blue-grey, from royal blue to ultramarine. Variations of blue are actually easier to combine that navy blue: white, off-white, beige and grey are perfect with most blue shades, and while ultramarine and black is a bold and super trendy colour match you might have never thought of, aero blue has a timeless charm, and will add a touch of sophistication to all your outfits. When it comes to dresses, blue can be sexy in a more subtle way that black, and a blue dress always carries along a sense of elegance. You cannot really go wrong with a blue dress. So if you have a doubt on what to wear this coming season, here is a good hint: swap your little black dress for a little blue dress – and easily achieve that trendy and at once effortlessly chic look that you just love.
Did you check the new collection of beautiful made in Italy clothing just landed on www.Glamitalian.com? You will find in it many gorgeous blue dresses!

Season’s essentials : the jumpsuit

Spotted on the streets of New York, London and Milan, jumpsuits  are this year’s  favourite piece for fashionistas around the world. This is an absolute wardrobe essential, and a real statement piece, which can make every woman stand out from the crowd. In  denim, cotton, or satin, colourful, in patterns, floral, or monochrome, many are the versions of this fabulous garment and you can surely find the right fit and style for you. What I particularly like about jumpsuits is the fact that you can take them from day to night just by using the right accessories. On top of that, jumpsuits  are very stylish and extremely comfortable at the same time. If you are still wondering if you need a jumpsuit don’t forget to check our Italian collection, you could find the perfect, stylish jumpsuit for you !

Dare to Wear: the heels & socks look

As seen on most fashion shows (and on almost all fashion blogs) one the trendiest ways to compliment in style your outfit  this season is using the nerdy combination of heels plus socks. We know that having a hint of socks peeking out from your shoes can seem totally weird, but it is actually a look very stylish! There are many different ways to  perform this combination with great results. Use knee-line, light-coloured socks  with pumps if you love wearing mini skirts in order to achieve an unpredictable sexy look; go for short heavy weight texture socks showing from your ankle boots for a cozy-casual look; combine a white, light, version of this unusual fashion accessory with platforms or peep-toe hells for a perfectly contemporary chic style.

Now that you know how, would you dare the look?

Alta Roma Alta Moda: the Italian haute couture

Last chance yesterday to attend Alta Roma Alta Moda 2012 in Rome. This was the second annual appointment in Rome in order to celebrate the fashion week and the exceptional designers who were there presenting their work. After the big success back in January, the Italian capital got ready to be the perfect backdrop again for this event, which is now celebrating its 19th edition.

This summer edition started on the 8th of July and ended yesterday, giving a great opportunity for fashion lovers and journalists to meet several designers who showed their personal creations for the next fall-winter 2012-2013 collection.

Raffaella Curiel, Renato Balestra, Giada Curti, Sarli, Tony Ward are only some of the brands you were able to find at Alta Roma Alta Moda, with collections all inspired by laces, decorations, sequins, crystals, and details aimed at expressing elegance, charm and prestige.  Fabrics too, of course, were as gorgeous as ever, contributing to add glamour and sensuality to the designers’ creations, for both night and day wear.

The two most classic colors, black and white, underline one more time luxury, especially when they are not combined together but paired instead with brown, orange, yellow, light blue and violet. Pleated trousers or knee-length skirts are two of our favourite designs among the creations presented in Rome, and we suggest them for the day.  As far as it concerns the night, become then a sexy lady, wearing long dresses with split skirts. Your legs will be enhanced and you will just look like a diva !

Cannes 2012: back to the Dolce Vita

The 2012 Cannes film festival is about to end, and everyone in the industry is getting ready for  this evening gala ceremony,  where once again the Palme d’Or will be awarded to the best picture. For us who love fashion it’s time to vote for the best dressed celebrity…difficult choice, as we have seen so many stunning gowns on the red carpet!

But surely among all the  stars’ looks one stands out: it’s  Bianca Balti, dressed in an incredible Dolce & Gabbana black multicolored floral gown. She made a memorable entrance at the festival with all the glamour of a proper  diva, just back from the Dolce Vita. Bianca  is Dolce & Gabbana’s new muse, as the super model also appears in the designer’s 2012 spring summer campaign. Her Italian beauty definitely recalls the divas of the 50’s, and the model/actress has been compared  many times to the iconic Sophia Loren. The dress is inspired to the atmospheres and colours af Southern Italy, which is also the distinctive sign of Dolce & Gabbana spring summer collection for 2012.

Subtle make up and jewelery, black nail polish, and a natural curly updo hair style complete and balance this very sensual and dramatic look.

Mirror mirror on the wall, what should I wear this summer?

Summer is coming, and we are all ready to get a tan in order to look super sexy in our sequined dresses ….

The following image shows an amazing summer look by Blumarine (www.blumarine.com)

Skinny pants are still going to be a key-word for the new season, partnered with a monochrome T-shirt. Favourite colours for this trend are the neutrals, especially blue,  sand, and cream.

Add some glam to your wardrobe, be cool and eye-catching by wearing sky high heels and – why not – a pair of ankle socks.   These gorgeous heels are respectively by Valentino and Calvin Klein.

Wear mini skirts –  if you like the bling style, go for the metallic brocade look..

Highlights from Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week has ended a couple of days ago, and it’s  just the right time to spend some words on how amazing were the designs we have seen on the runways. On top of my list I would put D&G’s collection,  at least for these gorgeous  colorful  dresses, beautifully shaped out of  a foulard and very inspired by the  classic  Hermès  prints.

Fendi was able to come up  with a really stylish, glamorous, and unique collection designed by Karl Lagerfield. Most of all, I love the haircut ! So so cool! I have decided  I must try it out…

fendi ss 2012fendi ss 2012

Very imaginative is  Moschino‘s  spanish inspired collection, based on a total black color scheme, with gold and white accents, and a lot of embroideries and accessories.  The black skinny trowsers and the gold sandals paired with it will definitely be a must have.

Love it or leave it, studs are the distinctive sign of Versace‘s 2012 Spring Summer collection.

Giorgio Armani‘s designs are  as usual the most sophisticated one can imagine, with a neutral,  pastel based colour palette. The cut of this dress is so perfect that  it could just be a sculpture . By the way, I am glad to see that one shoulder tops will still be on fashion next summer. I really love this cut.giorgio aemani ss 2012giorgio armani s s 2012

Just Cavalli‘s inspiration remains linked to animal prints,  fringes , and the wild west. The general look of his collection, no surprise being Cavalli’s,  is intended to be very sexy.

On the opposite side, there is the classic, minimal, and monochrome collection by Max Mara.

max mara ss 2012 a

For next season Gucci suggests a seductive trend, with a lot of glitter and gold, very “Charleston”.  These are my favourite outfit by Gucci’ Spring Summer  2012.

So, here are my picks from Milan. How about you, is your wish list ready? xxx

New York Fashion Week: my favourites

It was raining this morning in Milan, but if you are thinking that the summer is over, then you have to think again. In just a few days in fact the spring summer collections 2012 by the world’s most exciting designers will be presented on the city’s runways. Milan Fashion Week will start on Wednesday 21st September, and until the 27th the city will be sparkling with the presence of models, designers, and celebrities.

While London Fashion Week is still on, the show in New York closed few days ago. What did you think about it?

Victoria Beckham

victoria beckham ss 2012victoria beckham 2012victoria beckham ss 2012

I liked the very minimal yet feminine collection Victoria Beckham presented in NY, accessorized with beautiful Laboutin shoes especially made for her…this sandals up here are to die for, absolutely!

Carolina Herrera

carolina herrera ss 2012carolina herrera ss 2012carolin herrera ss 2012carolina herrera ss 2012

I really love the way Carolina Herrera used geometrical motives in her collection also presented in New York. These ‘total white’ dresses are incredibly elegant, sophisticated and glamorous.

DKNY

Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012Donna Karan ss 2012

DKNY inspiration for the designs seen in NY has a tribal vibe. The colors she used for this collection are black, brown and ochre, mixed in graphic, bold prints, and used on shapes that are sinuous and feminine.

Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger ss 2012Tommy Hilfiger ss 2012Tommy Hilfiger ss 2012Tommy Hilfiger ss 2012

Very colorful is the ‘pop and preppy’ collection for next summer by Hilfiger.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs ss 2012Marc Jacobs ss 2012Marc Jacobs ss 2012

Even Marc Jacobs collection was very colorful, still following the color block trend that has been so popular this year.

United Bamboo

United BambooUnited BambooUnited Bamboo ss 2012

Last but not least amongst this selection of designers, I really liked United Bamboo, with the minimal, fresh, but at the same time ‘très chic’ look of their collection. So…what are your favourites from NY Fashion Week?

Some window shopping for you

I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely desperate for a good shopping session. The thing is, where I am right now is a truly beautiful yet shop-deprived corner of the world. So I have been browsing around the net to get some good fashion inspiration, and  I ended up window shopping at Valentin0.com

Valentino is one of the most classic Italian designer, and his style has always been very feminine, seductive, and sophisticated at the same time. These are my three favourite dresses from the ready-to wear spring-summer 2011 collection at Valentino.com.

I think they are absolutely stunning… So simple and elegant, to me they represent exactly what the essence of style is.

I have an obsession with black, so there is no doubt, if I had to pick one and just one, it would be  the black satin dress. Wich one would you choose? Tell me!

Ciao ciao, the weekend is starting, hope you have a good one!
